As you may have noticed, not much in the way of postings of late. That's actually good news. For one, none of my neighbors have reported crimes in the area, not to say that they haven't happened. I scour the Bee and Press Tribune for the police reports for this area and haven't seen any crimes. I hope making people aware by dropping off information about known suspects and updating this blog has helped. I see crime in Roseville is still on the rise, but not in this part of Roseville. Lately, I have noticed some strange things. I see homeless people walking up and down Sunrise more than even. People are leaving grocery carts in front on homes, including mine. I've seen cars stopped out on Newport and Kensington with domestic disputes and people fighting. Things are getting worse economically and I believe this is what contributes to these types of behaviors. I hope this doesn't become the norm around here.

Please continue to check this blog for updates and let your neighbors know if its existence. Also, keep letting me know of crimes in your areas and also, please report all crimes to the Roseville Police so they know what's going on in our neighborhood.

Thanks for reading and have a great and safe week.

Suspects in Roseville purse-snatching arrested

A day after a woman was knocked to the ground as she tried to stop two men from fleeing in a car after a purse-snatching incident, officers had the suspects in custody, the Roseville Police Department reported.

An officer spotted a vehicle at 6:45 p.m. Sunday and thought it fit the description of the one involved in Saturday's crime, said Dee Dee Gunther, a department spokeswoman.

The driver was arrested after the vehicle was pulled over at Foothills Boulevard near Vineyard Road, she said, and investigation led to the arrest later of the second suspect at a home in Sacramento.

The purse-snatching incident occurred at 5:47 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Sam's Club, 904 Pleasant Grove Blvd, she said. The victim, 51, was walking when a man grabbed the purse and ran to a waiting vehicle, she said.

The woman gave chase, tried to grab her purse as the man got into the vehicle and was knocked down as the auto was driven away, Gunther said.

The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

Within hours, the woman's bank cards were used for purchases at several businesses in south Sacramento, Gunther said.

Arrested Sunday was Michael Damon Foley, 19, of Roseville on suspicion of robbery, burglary, conspiracy, possession of stolen property, forgery, grand theft and assault with a deadly weapon.

The second man, Coby Masanobu Ishihara, 19, of Sacramento, was booked in the Placer County jail on suspicion of similar offenses, Gunther said. Bail was set at $50,000 for both men, she said.

Roseville Police Chief Michael Blair said he was glad the victim was not seriously injured, but he cautioned citizens not to fight with criminals over stolen property.

"The best thing to do in a situation like this is to get to a safe place, be observant and give police as much information as possible," he said in a news release.

Roseville woman robbed at gunpoint outside home

A 27-year-old Roseville woman said a man came out of the bushes and robbed her of her purse as she and her father were walking to their front door Friday night.

The incident occurred at 11:50 p.m. in the area of Rice Lane and Barbara Way, said Roseville police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther.

The woman said she had just reached the door when the robber ran up and pointed the gun at her, Gunther said. The woman said she gave up her purse and that the robber ran to a gold, late-model Lexus sedan, getting into the passenger side. The car then drove off, Gunther said.

She described the suspect as black, in his 20s and about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds.

Car burglars hit 15 vehicles in single night

Car burglars hit 15 vehicles in single night

Laxity by vehicle owners gave burglars a free hand in Roseville one recent night.

Fourteen vehicles or garages were left unlocked on the night of April 11, allowing thieves to take purses, wallets, checkbooks, credit cards, loose change, sunglasses, clothing, cell phones, iPods and a laptop computer, police reported.

A 15th vehicle, which had been locked, was broken into by smashing the window, said police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther, who expressed dismay that so many vehicles and garages were left unlocked.

"We must stop giving concierge service to thieves," she said.

Gunther urged residents to park their vehicles inside a locked garage or to lock any vehicle left outside. She also cautioned residents not to leave valuable items, including garage door openers, inside the vehicles. The thieves hit seven vehicles in the Quail Glen neighborhood, Gunther said. Two cars were parked inside garages, but the owners left the garages or side doors unlocked, allowing thieves to walk in, she said. Six vehicle burglaries occurred on Halley Glen Drive in the Highland Reserve neighborhood, and the two other burglaries were on Jennifer Circle in the Diamond Oaks section of town, she said.
