Suspect Punches Woman in Roseville, Steals Christmas Presents from Her Car

From fox40.com A woman pulling into a Roseville Bel-Air was assaulted and robbed of her Christmas presents early Sunday evening. Police say that the woman showed up at the Sunrise Avenue store around 6:45 p.m. Once there, the woman reported that a man opened her passenger door and tried to steal some Christmas presents she had just bought. She tried to stop him, but was punched in the face. Eventually, the man made off with three JC Penneys bags. The woman looks to be OK and denied medical treatment. The man is described as being about 6 feet tall, and was wearing a dark colored hoodie with the hood pulled up at the time of the robbery. Another Break in Cirby Side Neigborhood

Sometime overnight (June 7), thieves went into unlocked vehicles in the 1100 block of Kris Way and the 900 block of Keith Drive and stole music CDs, registration documents and a garage door opener. A front door was kicked in and robbed at another address. I don't have anymore details other than that at this time. If you have any details, let me know.

Roseville catalytic converter theft on the rise once again

By Toby Lewis, The Press Tribune Roseville police have once again seen an increase in catalytic converter thefts, with at least four reported in the past week. “We’ve gone for quite a while where the catalytic converter thefts were fairly rare and we’re now seeing them again,” said Dee Dee Gunther of the Roseville Police Department. “It’s a recurring problem everywhere.” Gunther said the amount of thefts in the city seems to coincide with the rise and fall of the going rate for precious metals. “When metal prices get high, demand goes up and so the thefts go up,” Gunther said. A catalytic converter uses three precious metals — platinum, palladium and rhodium — to create a chemical reaction that cleans and controls the emissions coming from a vehicle. As of Thursday, the going price for platinum was $1,415 per ounce, while palladium was going for $613 per ounce. Gunther said thieves most often target Toyota pickups and SUVs, and other vehicles that are high off the ground and easy to access. Thieves crawl under the vehicles, unbolt or saw the converters off and then sell them to metal recyclers. Most of the thefts occur at night in both residential neighborhoods and commercial areas, Gunther said. Police have been working over the past several months not only to combat metal theft, but also against scrap metal recyclers who are operating outside the law and feeding the demand for stolen metal, Gunther said. Roseville police have already arrested three metal dealers this year either for receiving stolen property or for allegedly violating California’s Business and Profession’s Code by not keeping records of sales. Gunther said the best way to protect your vehicle is to keep it in a locked garage overnight. She also said etching an ID number into the catalytic converter itself would be helpful for police to track it back to its owner in the event a suspected thief is caught. “It’s helpful if we catch a thief right away before he gets to a recycler or before he has a chance to take it apart,” she said. Convenience Store on Cirby Way Robbed

April 13 - Rosevillept.com At 11:34 p.m., a convenience store at 199 Cirby Way was robbed. Two males entered the store, pointed handguns at the clerk and demanded money from the cash register. They took cash from the register, tried unsuccessfully to break into the store’s locked office, and then left. No injuries were reported.

Thieves target pickup truck tool boxes in Roseville, Cirby Ranch area

By Toby Lewis, The Press Tribune Roseville police are warning truck owners with tool beds to be aware after a recent increase in tool thefts. Police have received four reports of thefts from pickup tool boxes in the Meadow Oaks and Cirby Ranch neighborhoods over the past week. The thief, or thieves, targeted construction company pickups or other company trucks, got into the tool boxes in the truck beds and stole tools and equipment, police said. Police said there were no signs of forced entry in each instance and suspect or suspects likely used a key or a set of keys that fit the tool boxes. The thefts occurred overnight on April 19 in the 1200 block of Chesapeake Drive and the 1100 block of Augusta Way, and again overnight on April 24 in the 1100 block of Augusta Way and the 1100 block of Meadow Oaks Drive. Police warn those with a pickup tool boxes containing valuable tools to keep the vehicle parked inside a locked garage or install heavy-duty hasp-type locks and sturdy padlocks on the boxes.

Roseville police searching for bank robber near Cirby and Sunrise

-rosevillept.com Roseville police are searching for a suspect who robbed a River City Bank in Roseville Thursday evening. Just after 5 p.m., the suspect walked into the bank inside of the Bel Air store at Sunrise Avenue and Cirby Way and handed a clerk a note demanding money. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and left the bank on foot. He was last seen heading toward Cirby Way. The robber is described as a white male in his 30s with a short, scruffy beard and mustache. He wore a yellow baseball cap with a neon green pattern, white-framed sunglasses, a long-sleeved gray T-shirt or sweater and blue jeans. Roseville Police Investigate Saturday Shooting

Roseville Police are investigating the Saturday night shooting of a man at a Shell Gas Station across from the Roseville Galleria.

The man was able to flee from the shooter and ended up in the parking lot of Red Robin and Buca di Beppo. Detectives say there were four people involved in the incident, including the man who was shot. All four of them know each other, according to police.

Two of the other four individuals may have also been shot at another location.

Police are looking for the shooter and believe he may be driving a mid-90’s van.

14 catalytic converter thefts in Roseville

One night last week more than a dozen catalytic converters were stolen from Roseville residents.

Roseville police reported that last Tuesday night and Wednesday morning at least 14 of the emission control devices were taken from vehicles, mostly Toyota pickups and SUVs.

The rash of thefts occurred in the Foothills/Junction, Vineyard and Woodcreek neighborhoods. The converters, mounted underneath vehicles, are sold to metal recyclers.

Roseville police note that the devices contain valuable metals. To replace a converter costs $500-$1,000, police said.

While some motorists don't have garages, police say that's the best spot to keep a vehicle, especially a pickup or SUV with plenty of space underneath for a thief to cut away a catalytic converter.

60 Rocklin homes broken into within 4 months

ROCKLIN, CA - Burglars in the Rocklin area went on a four month spree, where they hit 60 homes in 120 days.

The homes were broken into by burglars by kicking in the front door or smashing the rear sliding door window, Rocklin Police Spokesperson Michael Nottoli said.

Burglaries at homes in Loomis, Granite Bay, Folsom and Citrus Heights had similar damage.

Details surrounding the burglaries were not released by police

Nottoli said Granite Bay had 28 home burglaries, where a door was kicked in for entry.

Rocklin police are asking people to be aware of suspicious people and vehicles in their neighborhoods and to report the activity to Rocklin police.

Suspected car burglar caught in Roseville

A suspected car burglar is in custody at Placer County jail after leading Roseville police on a neighborhood search that lasted more than one hour.

Justin Karl Sennert, 23, of Paradise, allegedly broke the window of a locked vehicle in the 600 block of Lilly Cross Drive and stole a purse shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to Dee Dee Gunther of the Roseville Police Department.

Gunther said neighbors witnessed the burglary and reported the suspect, a white male wearing baggy blue jeans and a gray sweatshirt, fleeing through a backyard.

Sennert evaded police for more than one hour by running through and hiding in neighborhood backyards, Gunther said.

Roseville police, with the help of an off-duty Auburn police detective and a Placer County Sheriff canine deputy, conducted a yard-to-yard search in the area where Sennert had last been seen, Gunther said.

Sennert was finally located under a pile of pillows in a shed that he had locked behind himself in the backyard of a Grider Drive home, Gunther said.

Sennert was ordered out and taken into custody without incident, Gunther said. Officers also located the victim’s purse with all of its contents and returned it to the victim.

Sennert is being held in the Placer County Jail without bail on suspicion of burglary, trespassing, possessing stolen property and parole violation.
