The Roseville Police are at it again tonight...

....more of their incompetence which is getting really annoying showed up once again. I've had several "conversations" with the "leadership of the Roseville Police Department" and a member of the Roseville City Council. It really goes no where. I'm not sure what their priorities are, but one thing is clear, it's not protecting our neighborhood. Can you tell me the last time you actually saw a uniformed Roseville Police officer doing a routine patrol in the Cirby Side neighborhood? Anyway, the point of this email is to state what I last night on my way home and let you know what you can and should do about it. We should all be posting and sharing what kind of activity and crime we are seeing in our neighborhood. There was a car full of young men in their early 20s going from home to home on foot and from their car around 9:50PM tonight looking into neighbors' cars, trucks, RVs, homes and backyards in the areas of Keith Way and Kimberly Court. I went to another part of Cirby Side, out of their sight, to see what they would do next. I waited a few minutes. Once I came back around Keith Way I saw them parked at Kris Way in front of a house in the 1100 block. Several homes on this street have suffered home invasion robberies or home beak-ins, and I believe at least one stolen vehicle. When I approached their vehicle to ask what they were doing (they were unknown to me and this neighborhood and I've lived in the area for 25+ years) I saw them run back to their car (light blue Cadillac) and they sped off. They eventually ran 4-5 stops signs in our neighborhood trying to flee the scene, doing well over 60 MPH in a residential neighborhood. It was around this point I called 911 and asked to speak to a Roseville Police dispatcher. I reported all of the information I reported above to the dispatcher. She really showed no signs of interest in what the suspect vehicle was doing and more about what I was doing. In my opinion, she made it really clear that she could care less about the incident unfolding in front of me or what kind of damage that out of control vehicle was about to do. The dispatcher was still more interested in arguing with me than dispatching an officer to the suspect vehicle's location and I never did see a Roseville Police Unit anywhere near where I was or where the suspect vehicle was. After I told her all of what had happened her attitude towards me grew more unacceptable and asked "How would YOU know if they broke the law or not?" Are you kidding me? I just observed at least a half dozen laws that were broken and a very close call on two traffic collisions. I asked her to act upon my request to send a Roseville Police unit to the location of the suspect vehicle to stop a potentially fatal car accident, or worse. She refused to do so and she claimed the vehicle and it's driver and/or occupants did nothing wrong. I once again repeated the suspicious activity around the homes and cars in our neighborhood. At that point they slowed down, and I was able to get pretty close to get a plate number and let the dispatch know what that plate number was. The car then started weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed on Cirby towards Rocky Ridge crossing the center lane and almost hitting another car head on but managed to stay on South Cirby accelerating once again well over 60-70 MPH. They ran the red light at South Cirby and Auburn Blvd and proceeded EB Auburn towards Hazel. They crossed over into Granite Bay and I told the dispatcher they got away. This is a very unacceptable way to run a police department. I don't know what kind of damage they did, what they stole or if they even killed someone tonight but I did the best I could to try and get the proper authorities notified. It scares me to think they are our authorities, which don't have much in the way of priorities. If you sustained any property damage Thursday night in the Cirby Side neighborhood, I susgest calling the Roseville Police Department and filing a report and citing this incident because they people were most likely involved.

Attempted home invasion robbery in Roseville's Cirbyside Neighborhood

At 3:03 a.m. May 5, residents of the 1200 block of Donahue Way were awakened by someone kicking and damaging a panel in their front door. No entry was made, and officers did not locate any suspects in the area. It appears the would-be burglars fled when they realized someone was home. According to Roseville PD's on website and statistics, there are more property crimes per 100,000 residents than Fairfield. That is a VAST difference between Roseville and Fairfield. Just what are the Roseville Police focusing on...do you know, because I don't!

Roseville catalytic converter theft on the rise once again

By Toby Lewis, The Press Tribune Roseville police have once again seen an increase in catalytic converter thefts, with at least four reported in the past week. “We’ve gone for quite a while where the catalytic converter thefts were fairly rare and we’re now seeing them again,” said Dee Dee Gunther of the Roseville Police Department. “It’s a recurring problem everywhere.” Gunther said the amount of thefts in the city seems to coincide with the rise and fall of the going rate for precious metals. “When metal prices get high, demand goes up and so the thefts go up,” Gunther said. A catalytic converter uses three precious metals — platinum, palladium and rhodium — to create a chemical reaction that cleans and controls the emissions coming from a vehicle. As of Thursday, the going price for platinum was $1,415 per ounce, while palladium was going for $613 per ounce. Gunther said thieves most often target Toyota pickups and SUVs, and other vehicles that are high off the ground and easy to access. Thieves crawl under the vehicles, unbolt or saw the converters off and then sell them to metal recyclers. Most of the thefts occur at night in both residential neighborhoods and commercial areas, Gunther said. Police have been working over the past several months not only to combat metal theft, but also against scrap metal recyclers who are operating outside the law and feeding the demand for stolen metal, Gunther said. Roseville police have already arrested three metal dealers this year either for receiving stolen property or for allegedly violating California’s Business and Profession’s Code by not keeping records of sales. Gunther said the best way to protect your vehicle is to keep it in a locked garage overnight. She also said etching an ID number into the catalytic converter itself would be helpful for police to track it back to its owner in the event a suspected thief is caught. “It’s helpful if we catch a thief right away before he gets to a recycler or before he has a chance to take it apart,” she said. 14 catalytic converter thefts in Roseville

sacbee.com

One night last week more than a dozen catalytic converters were stolen from Roseville residents.

Roseville police reported that last Tuesday night and Wednesday morning at least 14 of the emission control devices were taken from vehicles, mostly Toyota pickups and SUVs.

The rash of thefts occurred in the Foothills/Junction, Vineyard and Woodcreek neighborhoods. The converters, mounted underneath vehicles, are sold to metal recyclers.

Roseville police note that the devices contain valuable metals. To replace a converter costs $500-$1,000, police said.

While some motorists don't have garages, police say that's the best spot to keep a vehicle, especially a pickup or SUV with plenty of space underneath for a thief to cut away a catalytic converter.
